Jeanie
Wyant
Even before she took her first quilting
class in 1983, Jeanie Wyant loved the colors,
patterns, and feel of fabric. She has since become
a well-known quilt artist whose current work features
freehand cutting and improvised designs.
A 1971 graduate of the University of Arkansas,
Wyant owned and operated a home-based word processing
business for 20 years, while becoming a ranked
tennis player in Arkansas Class A Division singles
and doubles. She also gave private tennis lessons
and coached the Fayetteville High School girls'
tennis team for five seasons. Since 1998, Wyant
has divided her time between quilt making and
working as an assistant teacher at The Montessori
School.
Wyant's "Turnabout" is owned
by Washington Regional Medical Center and hangs
in the Tyson Commons dining area of the new hospital.
Her quilt is one of 17 signature works by area
artists selected for placement in the hospital.
